Losing a love one is never easy. The pain, the suffering, you name it. Rafael Del Col knows this feeling well after he lost his pregnant wife Tatiane “Tati” Valques and their unborn child in a car accident in 2011. Not only did he lose his beloved ones but was also left alone to raise their 1-year-old daughter, Raisa.
It was hard for a 30-year-old single dad to cope up so he created a blog in hope to deal with the situation. He wrote out his thoughts and feelings and sought support, but something was missing; Rafael searched for the right way to honor his wife.
Years later, he remembered a set of professional photos that he and his late wife shot just before their wedding in 2009. Finally, Rafael found the perfect tribute for Tati.
Rafael decided to recreate the images he found but with a very special twist…
In November of 2014, Rafael recreated the photos, though this time with his daughter, instead of his wife.
Raisa wears the same necklace that her mom wore years ago.
The high heels are the same also.
“Our dog, Raul, is the same as well. I bought this dog for Tati in the beginning of our relationship.” Rafael said.
“I hope you do not see this project as sad. We still live this pain, the longing, but we are well, we are happy.”
“Now, thank God, things are adjusting slowly, my daughter is healthy, and is growing and developing normally.”
“Besides the responsibility of taking care of my princess, I need to deal with feelings of grief, the loss of my partner, with whom I lived for 10 wonderful years.”

Losing someone you love will leave an empty space inside your heart but it will be filled by those who are around and love you.
